Dr Ethan Quinn had been happy to help unofficially. Kevin knew him through a case last year and thanks to Dr Quinn he'd ended up making sure a dangerous psychopath stayed behind bars. Rather than log Ethan as a visitor to the station Kevin and Harding met up with him at his home. They waited impatiently while he read the files making notes as he worked through them.

Finally, he pushed them away and sat back in his chair, "Both of your suspects have red flags that I find pertinent to the case. Let's start with Brett Folder as he's your main focus."

Ethan pulled his notes over and used them to prompt his profile.

"Outwardly Mr Folder presents as being a well-rounded individual who only has one previous link to the police which he's managed to neatly explain away. Look under the surface however, and you find a man who jumps from one relationship to another very quickly. He's barely mourned one loss before he's replaced her. Not only does he move on rapidly, but these relationships become serious within a month or two. The women seem to build everything around him and it looks as though they become isolated from their usual support networks or don't have one to start with. This is a red flag for coercive behaviour, and often this is perpetrated by those who seek to abuse their partners without outside interference. This is only my professional opinion, I'd be able to tell you more if I could have an opportunity to meet with Mr Folder one to one."

Kevin shook his head, "I'd love to put you in a room with him but I can't see my boss agreeing to it. Let alone what his best friend slash lawyer would say about that."

Ethan smiled, "Maybe Mr Folder would appreciate a psychiatric assessment to ensure that he's not being unduly stressed by your investigation? He's been through a lot of bereavement and as such it would stand to reason that he might be finding the additional pressure of being questioned as a suspect traumatic."

That made Kevin smile back, "Good point Doc. I'll keep that in mind. If it is Brett that's responsible, why would he veer away from his usual method of killing?"

"If Brett is our killer then he'll be fixed more on the date than the method. While it might be ideal to plan the murders to look like accidents, that won't be as hard and fast as the date. If he was left with no opportunity to hide his murder in an accident he'd have been pushed into going with whatever means met his objective. It looks as though the killer took a knife with them so I can only assume that was the case at all of the murders. Taking a weapon would then suggest they already had a plan B."

That made sense to Kevin, "And what about Lily Banks? What do you make of her history and her likelihood of being our murderer?"

The smile dropped
